After joining the TRD Pro squad, Sequoia is going to take more changes for the 2021 season. This time, the largest SUV in Toyota’s lineup will go through a huge redesign. The last time we saw some serious changes, the vehicle was refreshed with the LED lights and new colors. It was in 2017. Now, it is time for the complete overhaul and the new generation eventually. The current series of the full-size SUV date back from 2007. The 2021 Toyota Sequoia is going to share some things with the new Land Cruiser, whose styling is also aging.
Exterior and interior redesign is the primary objective. The company already made the next season model a part of the TRD Pro lineup together with 4Runner SUV, and Tacoma and Tundra trucks. Also, the future 2021 Toyota Sequoia is going to offer both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as a part of the new infotainment Enform system. All these updates are good enough to expect the upcoming SUV eagerly.
Under the hood of the biggest SUV in the lineup remains the biggest engine Toyota can offer. It is a 5.7-liter V8 petrol unit capable to produce 381 hp. It also adds 401 lb-ft of torque. The power goes through an eight-speed automatic transmission and ends distributed to two or all four corners. We expect the boost for the towing capacity. While the best SUVs in the class can haul over 9,000 pounds, Sequoia currently sits at 7,400 lbs. Also, the fuel economy is not a thing that will make you buy this vehicle. A V8 engine is very thirsty and it returns only 13/18 mpg, no matter if 2WD or 4WD is your choice.
What’s New for 2021 Toyota Sequoia?
At this point, the company is not making big statements and announcements. Fans and experts are together in opinion – calm for the storm. Toyota must do something to modernize its largest SUV. Well, a couple of revisits are making it appealing. But, it is not going to last for too long, since other companies are updating their big rigs. Chevy Tahoe and Suburban are entering the new generations, while Ford is preparing a hybrid engine for its Expedition.
The 2021 Toyota Sequoia needs a new look and updated interior. Infotainment offer is ok, as well as safety. But, in two years, these two segments will need the latest versions. Toyota Enform system is set to debut next year, which will solve one problem.
TRD Pro Is Here!
Already next season we will see the full-size SUV offering the most exciting package by this carmaker. Ever since Toyota introduced the TRD Pro suite for their three models, these are considered as off-road monsters. In the SUV class, that was 4Runner. This model will get a serious competitor next season after a few years. Ford is making Bronco an off-roader. In the full-size segment, the 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro is not going to have such worries. At least not until Ford launches Expedition Raptor version, or Chevy installs a diesel engine for their big rigs.
2021 Toyota Sequoia Price
The new 2021 Toyota Sequoia will suffer a lot of updates, but the price will stay put. The company has no space to increase the cost of the standard model, which is currently $5 shy of $50,000 mark. Of course, TRD Pro version will probably break $65,000 mark. However, with all these changes, Sequoia is going to add a grand or two to its value.
